The multiplayer action game Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is available on Steam as a free-to-own title until November 7. Unlike the weekly free games supplied by Epic Games, Valve’s digital marketplace members have been given free copies of select new titles on rare occasions.
Even though the Epic Games Store often gives away free games, Steam is still the most popular platform for purchasing games. Past giveaways have included digital versions of video games, like Sniper Elite 2 and Left 4 Dead 2.
Steam also offers a wide variety of free-to-play games, such as famous multiplayer games like Dota 2 and Counter-Strike Global Offensive. Steam only sometimes provides free copies of games users have paid for; customers must claim their gift by a specified period. This occurs when Steam gives out previously paid-for titles at no cost to its consumers.
The highly anticipated sequel to Fatshark’s critically lauded co-op horde action video game, Warhammer: Vermintide 2, is now accessible to Steam’s user base. Vermintide 2, now at a “Very Positive” rating on the Steam store, is free to download until November 7th.
Video game collectors who purchase the item before November 7 can keep it permanently. Thanks to recent changes made by Steam, free titles like Vermintide 2 may now be added to a user’s library without requiring a download.
Like in Left 4 Dead, players in Vermintide 2 take on the role of a unique hero as they battle through waves of enemies. But there is no direct parallel between the two games. The adversaries in Warhammer: Vermintide 2 aren’t zombies butswarms of rat-men called Skaven, who battle against the Chaos Warriors of Nurgle.
Warhammer: Vermintide 2 has been updated with new features, including the Beastmen as a new opponent type and a unique game type set in the Chaos Wastes. The most recent update to Vermintide 2 included a roguelike mode, providing players with a considerable edge as they ventured into randomly created worlds.
Two of Warhammer: Vermintide 2’s best qualities are its large cast of unique characters and its steady play rhythm. As if that weren’t enough, Vermintide 2 lets players tweak the game’s physics, visuals, and more to their liking. You can now download Fatshark’s previous game for free if you need anything to keep you busy while you wait for the developer’s upcoming horde-based game, Darktide.
