A dedicated podcast has been created in anticipation of the December release of The Callisto Protocol. The following body horror game from Striking Distance, helmed by Dead Space director Glen Schofield, has been the subject of much anticipation among the genre’s diehard followers. The release of promotional photos and short clips has excited anticipation, and the fact that it’s not a remake or remasters has pleased some.

Recent reviews and pictures for The Callisto Protocol have shown off even more of the game’s content. The new title is being hailed as a spiritual successor to Isaac Clarke’s exploits in Dead Space, which isn’t always bad. Fans have a lot to look forwards to as they wait for the game’s release, and developer Schofield has already begun discussing ideas for a potential sequel.

Striking Distance has released the podcast version of The Callisto Protocol, which may be listened to now. Helix Station, starring Michael Ironside and Gwendoline Christie, is a precursor to the video game of the same name (from “Game of Thrones”).

The podcast takes place in the year 2320. It follows a “dangerous escaped criminal” and the skip tracer (the game’s equivalent of a bounty hunter), tasked with tracking them down while facing the game’s many terrifying monsters. There are now two episodes for viewing, with four more planned for the future.

The studio has been involved in other projects outside, only making the game. The studio has now released a docuseries about The Callisto Protocol titled “Mastering Horror,” which will examine the development team’s process for making the game’s terrifying moments.

A pair of episodes, “Brutality” and “Atmosphere & Tension,” have been uploaded to YouTube for the docuseries, which is based on the podcast of the same name.

After all the press the game has received, it should be no surprise that The Callisto Protocol is one of this generation’s most anticipated horror games. Since remakes of Dead Space and Resident Evil 4 are on the horizon, the genre is experiencing something of a golden period right now.

Recent surprise successes like The Mortuary Assistant and Scorn show that the independent industry is booming, with even more horrors and atmosphere on offer. In summary, Schofield’s newest product is on track for a successful debut, and eager followers need to wait a bit longer.
